Movie Marathons.

Over the weekend, in an effort to relax, I watched some interesting movies: Hopscotch with Walter Mathau and Mind the Gap.

While watching Mind the Gap, I thought of a good movie marathon that would be called, Dancing with Plastic: Tales of a False Love:
Mind the Gap
Lars and the Real Girl
AND Mannequin

This brought to mind a weekend back in the late ninties that we'll call: Life Drawing: Flirting with Skin. This marathon was:
Titanic
As Good As It Gets

and Great Expectations

Here's the game: You suggest 3 movies that all have a subtle theme and I'll put my Netflix queue in your hands. Then I'll try to guess the theme. Any takers?

Vacation Days.

One of the strange parts of my life is that I have an ENORMOUS amount of time off, but can rarely actually take a vacation. I try to use a day here and a day there, but its never enough time.

I can roll 20 days a year over, but I always lose a couple of days into the ether. It KILLS me to let that time go.

In an effort to use some of it before the end of the fiscal year, I will be out of the office the rest of the week. Out of the office, with no plans, with very little on the horizon, and with little money to invest in going somewhere or doing anything terribly interesting.

Here is what I plan to do:
1) Call people. Say hello. Tell them I love them.
2) Go for long walks.
3) Clean my house.
4) Do some goal-setting.
5) Visit some friends.

If you have any big parties you're throwing this weekend or next. Or if you are desparate to be one of the people that I call or visit, please let me know.

Back... oh my... back.

I am back from the Las Vegas Showgirls of Weddings in beautiful Tulum, Mexico.

Unlimited snacks, yoga everyday, herds of Russians and Romanians, fire-dancers, tango-dancers... I have to stop. It all makes my head swim.

But one afternoon of forgetting to reapply my sunscreen has me miserable. I look like I have leprosy. My skin is angry, peeling, and making me twitch. I had to sedate myself last night just to get to sleep.

But in the yin/yang of life, this is small price to pay for such an amazing week. I took ZERO pictures (no time), bought ZERO souvenirs (no time), but have the most amazing memories that vary from sweet, quiet moments with friends to BIG, AMAZING FEATS OF FORTITUDE!

My speech went well. The whole thing was exactly how it should have been: crazy, emotional, chaotic, and beautiful.

Live from Mexico, its Wednesday night!

So far Mexico is very strange. I am having such a wonderful time with the wedding party, but the resort is more American than eating a hotdog at a baseball game!

I have alot of strange stories already. Remind me to tell you about the drill sargent on the plane, the yoga teacher on the beach, the Russians, the Mexicans, and all the wonderful love that exists between good people.

I have to go try to get some wedding favors together and prepare for tomorrow. This feels like a VERY long time away and ive been here 24 hours.

Love to you all.

Mexico, here I come...

It's been awhile since you got a Little Bo picture. I met Charles' new nephew over the weekend, named Joseph and I'm afraid that Joseph could probably beat-up little Bo on the playground. Might need to spring for some Karate lessons or something.

Now that your fix of cuteness is over, it's time I tell you: I leave for Mexico in a week.

And... I have an irrational fear of Mexico.

I also have a monster "To-Do" list, alot of laundry, and am minus a proper suitcase for the event.

But I am trying hard not to stress out about it.

I do have everything I need, so I should be okay. If anyone has tips, let me know.
