This isn't about the video games. Notice the line from the article,"the father, David E. Dodson, 40, was under a court order not to leave the 6-year-old and his 4-year-old brother alone with their mother."

These were terrible parents - the kids were not even supposed to be alone with their mom, what the hell is that? And the sheriff surmised that the meal at school was the child's main motivation, probably because he wasn't being fed at home. Video games are just a smoke screen here for the real problems of parenting. These kind of things always come back to the parents. But if your blog title was tongue-and-cheek, then, my response is: haha.

Tongue is firmly planted in cheek.

The whole thing is tragic. The parents are in jail now for child endangerment, and I'm guessing neglect is the bigger issue.

I agree that the kid probably loves school because there is food and comfort there. Sad.

But the fact that a kid could drive 10.4 miles at over 60 miles per hour - OVER A BRIDGE - after playing Grand Theft Auto, is well "interesting" to say the least.
